Jeremy Stephens calls out Dennis Siver
UFC's Jeremy Stephens: Give me Dennis Siver next by Dann Stupp on Jul 07, 2011 at 1:45 pm ET Although he said it's not an official "callout" and he has no ill will, Jeremy Stephens has issued a challenge. He wants a fight with fellow lightweight contender Dennis Siver. Stephens, who hopes the fight can be part of UFC 137 in late October, argued his case for the potential barnburner during today's edition of MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). Stephens (20-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) recently scored a lopsided unanimous-decision victory over late replacement Danny Downes at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. It was his fourth win in his past five fights. And he knows Siver (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) is another rising contender following his hotly contested UFC 132 decision win over Matt Wiman that resulted in a fourth straight UFC win (and eighth victory in his past nine fights). "I want to take out a top contender," Stephens said. "With Siver being an exciting fighter and doing pretty well, I think we'd put on a good one. I think he's perfect guy for me and a great scrap. It'd be an exciting matchup." With current lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard waiting on a third meeting scheduled for later this year, the lightweight division's list of contenders is swelling. Melvin Guillard and Clay Guida are inching closer to a title shot, as are UFC on Versus 5 opponents Ben Henderson and Jim Miller. Stephens, though, thinks Siver could present one of the more entertaining options. "He's a banger," he said of Siver. "He likes to throw. He's on a win streak, and I'm not doing too bad myself. I'd like to take his ass out and show the world I'm ready to take out the competition and move to the top." Stephens will welcome a second daughter to the world in September, so he thinks UFC 136 (Oct. 8) would be a little too soon. But UFC 137 in Las Vegas (Oct. 29), which features UFC champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz, is ideal. "October would be the perfect time (with) the Diaz vs. St-Pierre card," he said. "I want on the main card. I want us to be the first fight and set the pace for the whole night "Dennis Siver, let's do it." ___ naja, da will jemand wieder ins Rampenlicht |

Chucky92 :
der is doch nich annähernd auf Sivers Level, der Kampf wäre ein Schritt zurück für Dennis Siver
